The National Engineering Laboratory of Big Data System Software summarizes the path of industrial transformation and upgrading into four quadrants: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

The so-called addition and subtraction refers to intelligent production. Intelligent production places greater emphasis on internal work within the enterprise. Narrowly defined, intelligent production emphasizes the production process, while broadly defined, intelligent production encompasses the entire lifecycle of the enterprise, from research and development planning to production and maintenance services.

Intelligent production is nothing more than adding or subtracting something from the existing process. It can be summarized into eight words: improving quality, increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and controlling risks. Today, the work done by intelligent production is addition and subtraction.

But in this era, just adding and subtracting is not enough. For example, if a private equity organization invests in a company and the company does a little addition every year, the investors may not be satisfied, but expect the company to achieve exponential growth.

How to complete it? The industrial internet may be the path to complete multiplication and division. Multiplication is the channel effect. For example, Taobao, which allows many stores to open stores and make money through its channels, is a case study. But in the industrial sector, can we build an industrial internet channel?

Taking the clothing industry as a case study. The traditional first generation clothing enterprises have their own planning, factories, and storefronts, that is, a complete industrial chain. The second generation of clothing enterprises abandoned factories and chose full contract manufacturing to focus on marketing, using their stores as assets. In the era of the Internet, clothing companies have neither factories nor storefronts, with almost zero costs. All storefronts rely on Taobao, only responsible for rapid planning and control of the supply chain. The ultimate "master plate", although it may be as large as traditional enterprises, has high profit margins. Therefore, division is when companies focus on their core competitiveness.

Light financial and high profit operation is the way for Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises to innovate and start businesses in the future. Building a channel ecosystem for industrial internet does not mean that only this channel can make money, but that everyone on the channel has the potential to make money.
